All:
Just a reminder that we are no longer having the Thursday meetings, starting tomorrow.
As part of shifting from a community producing one guidebook to being a community of
practice, we need to shift how we communicate so we can get more streams going
asynchronously. This forum/mailing list is a cornerstone of that.
I brought up the idea of us having a chat/messaging room in addition, for the
higher-bandwidth interactions of realtime and async chat. If there are a few of us who
want to use that, it should be a decision we make with all affected folks.
As a matter of practice, we can look first for viable open source solutions. Since we are
not an infrastructure/ops heavy project, I'd like to avoid hosting our own solution if
we can get a reasonable service. But it should be one we can choose to host ourselves, for
any reason.
One that fits the description is Element (
https://element.io/ ), which is the Matrix
network service from the team behind Matrix.
What do you think about that solution? What other ideas do you have?
I suggest we talk about this for a week and see if there is a consensus by next Thursday
11 March.
How does all this sound to you?
Kind regards,
- Karsten
