Hi all,
After an enlightening discussion about community incentives and reward systems
with some community architects, I've decided to propose a chapter on the subject
for our guidebook. The gist would be to explain the importance of incentivizing
behaviors you'd like to see in your communities and outlining several
tools/mechanisms/techniques for doing so.
I think a chapter like this would be best situated immediately after our chapter
on contributor motivations. That is to say, after a discussion of what motivates
potential contributors to participate in open source projects, we'd feature a
chapter on tapping into those motivations and rewarding contributions to
encourage community growth.
We've got a ticket open for the work [1] and I've spun up a chapter skeleton [2]
that anyone's welcome to hack on. If you'd like to contribute to this chapter,
please feel free to dive in.
All feedback welcome, of course!
