It has been suggested that TOSW community can act as a more responsive
resource of open source and community best practices. With that in mind, I
would like to put forth the suggestion that we have a new mailing list,
such as community(a)theopensourceway.org, where folks could come to ask
questions and get advice.
If this could be added to this week's agenda item as a discussion, it would
be appreciated.

Sure thing, let's talk about it tomorrow, unless you've pretty much said
it all below?
What you are describing sounds like a users mailing list (under whatever
name) and is something we'd want eventually, I reckon. If you feel we're
ready for that, I don't have any objection & will happily participate &
bring people to discussions there.
(In this case, 'users' of TOSW are not just people who will eventually
read the guide; it's a broader net being cast for people who might gain
from any of the output/artifacts we do as a community of practice.)

We talked about this further today, and I think BKP may have some notes
to share.
One of my notes is that we need to have at least several of us willing
to watch and respond to that list.
The web forum interface includes upvoting/downvoting that we may be able
to use to come up with FAQs or highlighting content.
One silly idea I had was to follow a nomenclature like this:
"practicing the open source way" == practicing(a)theopensourceway.org
"questions for the open source way" == questions@
"how to practice the open source way" == how-to-practice@

Possibly, as we get going, yes. But initially I don't think the traffic
levels will be high enough for us to miss messages.

If the web forum can be the channel on which the discussion occurs, then I
am all for it.

Please join if you are interested in the questions and discussions.
I have set the subscription barrier on this new list as lower so we can
more easily welcome people -- only confirmation is required, no
moderator approval to join as with the contrib@ list.
This means we are likely to have some sp*m/bad actors join and need to
knock out the subscription and clear the archive.
Let me know if you'd be interested in being a Moderator level for this
new list; I could also use a few co-Admins for both mailing lists.
